Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties;
And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24

Love this Verse!

In our Sunday school class we are reading the book of James. There is a great verse to have in mind when parenting. The verse is about God's wisdom and who wouldn't want that wisdom when dealing with our own children!? I especially am taking this to heart as I feel like I am constantly NOT these things!

James 3:17
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Ryn...Again.

I know that Ryn is getting a lot of "Blog Time" compared to her brothers, but she is the one changing the most!
Tonight she was crackin' me up (which was great since last night she was being a stinker!). She and I hung out in her room for about 30 min. The amount of things she got into was amazing. For starters, she decided that her small Little Peoples doll house would be a good balance beam. The roof of this house is about 2 inches by10 inches. I watched her twice carefully climb onto this strip of plastic with both feet and squeal with excitement as she stood with balance. Then I told her no.
Next, she found a book she wanted to read. We usually read in the rocking chair so I got up and patted my leg. She sat on the floor and patted the floor beside her. It was quite adorable.
And last, after we pulled-out and "read" every book from her drawer under the crib, she decided that this would be a good reading spot. She got right in and made herself comfy.

And a new development as of yesterday...saying "cheese" and wanting to see her picture. Sorry for the super close shot!

Tricky Ryn- 18 Months

Okay, so this isn't the greatest 18 month pic, but she learned how to stick her finger in her nose and was very pleased with herself. Luckily, I haven't seen her do it again!
She is pretty much the same since my post when she was nearing 17 months, climbing, stubborn, reading, silly. She is starting to respond better to directions and is trying to say more words. So far, she "says" Mama, Papa, cow, moo, ah-da (all done), please-though signs it more, baa, shoe, da (dog), boo (book), cwacker. She makes a strange hacking sound for the sound of a dog or lion. She talks a lot of jibberish, which I will probably miss greatly when she just talks a lot!

The biggest surprise happened at church. I put her in a pack-n-play and used some carts to "wall" her from the rest of the kids. About 15 minutes later she walks around the corner with a smile! Arg!
Monday night, she and Jacob were playing in her crib when she discovered she could put her foot through the slats onto a dresser and hoist herself over with no effort. Her room got changed around very quickly!
Then, Tuesday night, hoping that she had forgotten about climbing out of a pack-n-play, I put her to bed while we were at small group. Few minutes later...out she comes with a treasure she found in my friends' room. I put her back in with a firm "no-no" and she did stay and go to sleep.

I am guessing the crib will be coming down soon and we will be dealing with a little girl that wants to climb out of bed, although her parents will have a different opinion.

Winter or Spring?

The beginning of January was cold, cold, cold! We actually had a "snow day" due to the ice rink roads. So, being stuck inside, we got creative. Actually, I just used an idea out of a book my sis gave me. Animals on the ceiling fan...what fun! We probably played with this for 1/2 an hour and even did a little science (which will fall first, last, etc- can't get the teacher out of me)!

Don't get me wrong, they had lots of time not "thinking" and playing the Wii- love the chair!

Shoveling inches of snow on Wednesday, no school Thursday, to Spring like weather Friday! Crazy, but we will take it! It was fun to head to a playground and get out of the house.

Make-Shift New Year's

I don't know what it is about holidays and my kiddos this year, but we seem to be sick ON THE DAY! After Jackson and Ryn had high fevers the day before New Year's Eve, it was only fitting that Jacob got sick the next day. This was going to be there first experience of New Year's, but we had to cancel plans and make it as fun as possible.

Jackson was feeling better, so I got some fun food for dinner and we played the Wii for quite a bit.
Around 8:30, Ryn was a cranky little girl so we put her to bed. Jacob was just waking up from a "nap" and seemed to have a burst of energy. So...we got Ryn out of bed to be with the family and watched the ball drop in New York on live time. The boys enjoyed blowing horns and wrestling on the bed (apparently Jacob didn't feel well enough to come downstairs, so we celebrated in our room)!
Counting down...Happy New Year!
